Superior

Views That Are a Cut Above.

Sense of Place

For doting residents, the name says it all. A former coal-mining town-turned-burgeoning bedroom community for Boulder and Denver, Superior’s landscape fits its values: safe, scenic, and family-friendly. Acres of open space and high points with sweeping views is perfect for this community of athletes and outdoor lovers.

Lay of the Land

Superior’s a quick zip up Highway 36 from Boulder (and a straight shot to Denver, too). Nearly 25 percent of the town’s land is open space, which, from the west side of town, provides a panoramic perspective overlooking the Flatirons and dramatic peaks beyond. The town’s largest residential neighborhood is Rock Creek, with retail activity converging around Superior Marketplace’s big-box stores, soon to be joined by the forthcoming Downtown Superior development across the street.

What Locals Love to Do

  • Enjoy summertime cool-downs at two outdoor community pools.
  • Shop to your heart’s content at Flatiron Crossing mall, minutes from anywhere in Superior.
  • Figure skate; play hockey, soccer, or basketball; or try a round of golf—all inside at the Sports Stable’s indoor courts.
  • Pedal down several renowned networks of gravel trails, bike paths, and road-cycling routes.
  • Look forward to new shopping, dining, and entertainment options all in one place at the highly anticipated, master-planned Downtown Superior, currently in development.
  • Hike the town’s gorgeous trail systems, from Coalton Trailhead to the trails at Rock Creek.
  • Picture Superior’s humble beginnings in Original Town, a tiny creekside district that’s home to a historic jail cell and homestead buildings.
